Wethersfield's retired and front line trucks - August 15, 2010
Welcome to the home page of the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department. Wethersfield is a mostly residential town, south of Hartford, Connecticut, USA. It covers approximately 13.6 square miles with a population of 25,100. The town was chartered in 1634 and borders the towns of Rocky Hill, Newington, Hartford, and Glastonbury via the Connecticut River. The Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department was chartered by the Connecticut Legislature on May 12, 1803, making it the first formally chartered fire department in Connecticut. Since we have always been, and continue to be, a volunteer organization, we are believed to be one of the oldest chartered volunteer fire departments in continuous existence in the United States. The Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department responds to approximately 450 calls (fire and rescue - no EMS) per year. Our dispatch frequency is 460.625 MHz. We are comprised of three Fire Companies providing ISO Class 3 fire protection to the Town of Wethersfield. Click here for animated radar loop for Connecticut Last update
